Following some additional discussions the HOA Board had with the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors (office of Chairman Jeffrey McKay), Republic Services pushed back the Start Date for when they will no longer accept Plastic Bags for Yard Waste, to April 1, 2021.
For our HOA, this means that plastic bags will still be accepted for the next 3 weeks, with our HOA's final service date being Wednesday, March 31. After this date, Yard Waste (leaves, grass trimmings, shrub and tree trimmings, flowers, vines, etc.) must be placed in either Reusable Containers (available from Republic) or in Paper Bags made for Yard Waste (available online, and in hardware and garden stores). As before, Branches (up to 6 inches in diameter) tied in bundles (up to 4 feet in length, and up to 50 pounds in weight) will be picked up as well..
For reference, attached is a letter that Republic Services has distributed to their customers in Fairfax County, that describes this service change for their Yard Waste collection.
