The current public health emergency has driven Fairfax County to change their requirements for Trash and Recycling collection starting Monday, March 30. The two main impacts to our community are as follows:
1. All Trash and Recycling items must be placed in the containers that were provided by Republic Services. This includes the large green Trash carts, and both the large blue Recycling carts and the smaller blue Recycling bins. Items (including trash bags) that are not placed in these containers will not be picked up and removed.
2. Yard Waste collection on Wednesday is suspended until further notice. To dispose of Yard Waste, you may place it in bags, and then place those bags in the Trash containers for the regular Monday/Thursday pickup. Separate bags or bundles of Yard Waste that are not placed in the Trash containers will not be picked up.
These changes have been put in place to protect the employees that play a critical role in ensuring our community stays healthy as they move from house to house to collect, transport, and dispose of waste, and will remain in effect until the public health emergency passes.
