It appears that the long awaited paving of the roads in our neighborhood by VDOT will be commencing soon, as indicated by the “No Parking” signs that have been installed on our streets during the last week.
We have noticed that the “No Parking” dates listed on the signs vary by road. Here are the dates currently posted for each of the roads in our neighborhood (and some surrounding roads) when parking will be prohibited:
Roads in our Neighborhood (for Pohick Station HOA):
Barsky Court: 5/12 - 5/26
Winslow Drive: 5/12 - 5/15
Winslow Court: 5/13 - 5/27
Pohick Station Drive: 5/11 - 5/22
Pohick Court: 5/11 - 5/22
Surrounding Roads:
New Road: 5/15 - 5/29
Fournier Drive: 5/11 - 5/22
Freds Oak Road: 5/8 - 5/22
Most of these posted dates are approximately 2 weeks in duration, with the exception of Winslow Drive which is just 4 days. We suspect this might be due to Winslow Drive not requiring a complete resurfacing, due to the “Patch Only” spray paint notice near its intersection with Pohick Station Drive.
To avoid the possibility of having your car towed away, please do not park along the above roads during the dates listed above (please park in your driveway or garage), and please inform any guests to also avoid parking on the street during these dates. Please also occasionally check the posted signs near your home to ensure these dates are not modified in the future.
Please note that while the private drive pipestems in our neighborhood are not included in the VDOT paving plans, the private drives are very narrow, and they should not be used as an alternate parking area.
It is likely that the actual paving and road closures will be for a shorter time frame, and the 2-week time periods listed are to allow flexibility in case of inclement weather. We may also find that only one side of each road will be paved at a time, to allow for continued travel on the roads (one way at a time).
When the paving and patching activity commences, please look for additional notices and signs posted about road closures, please follow directions provided by the paving personnel, and above all, please be careful as you navigate our neighborhood roads during these next few weeks.
