During these challenging times we’re in with schools and businesses closed, a member of our community proposed a fun idea to help spread some cheer, by placing stuffed animals in your windows that face the street, so as our residents are out walking with their kids and dogs, they can be on the lookout for these animals around the neighborhood. We’ll call this our “Pohick Station Window Safari”.
Communities around the country (and around the world) are doing something similar, as outlined in this article: https://time.com/5809613/bear-hunts-coronavirus/
So if you have a stuffed animal (could be a teddy bear, or any kind of stuffed animal) and would like to participate, please place it in your window over the next few days. You could also participate by printing out and coloring an animal template (these can be found online), and then hanging it in your window.
A few notes for when you’re on the safari looking for the animals: Please observe from our roads -- do not walk on private property. And please remember to maintain your distances from other neighbors when out walking. We want everyone in the neighborhood to keep safe while they’re out getting some fresh air and exercise.
Thank you all for continuing the physical distancing in these uncertain times. If you have thoughts or ideas for other activities that may help us connect with each other while physically distancing, please let us know.
