Neighbors,
I recently attended a briefing hosted by VDOT concerning the expansion of the Fairfax County Parkway north of Route 123.
The approximately 80 attendees were largely from neighborhoods near Pope's Head and Shirley Gate as their neighborhoods were being directly impacted by the proposed changes.
The bottom line for our HOA is that we, for this phase, are not really impacted other than the likely increased traffic on the Parkway and turn lane work needed on the 123/Parkway interchange. (There was NO discussion of New or Roberts Roads as they are outside of the scope of this phase.)
Note that there are three proposals for the Burke Center Parkway/Fairfax County Parkway intersection. The other note is that there is a general lack of funding at this juncture in that no money is identified for the actual widening of the Parkway--only some interchanges.
I encourage other members of the community to participate in future meetings.
